Assuming everyone knows who Athene is,

Just not too long ago (just a couple of hours), Athene , on a warlock, became the first to reach level 85 and and you can expect a video in a very short time of exactly how its done. After listening to what he had to say on YouTube, I think I have figured out just how it was accomplished

It sounds as if there was a party of five or so killing mobs for Athene after he tagged them (it seems that Blizzard has shorten the respawn timers for mobs since starting zones are way crowded.) He gets 100% of the xp, a continously dots mob after mob. And since he’s a warlcok, he never runs out of mana.

It has been reported also that this may have been done with the Zygor Addon power leveling tool. Example Video Here.

Okay, so how can we use this information to our advantage?

Well, for every server, there will be bound to have players who want
to go for “server firsts”. This gives incredible gold making advantages
and this window of opportunity will be only open for a short time.

Here’s 5 ways that comes to the top of my head:

1. Sell bags (Netherweave)

2. Farm up herbs/ore and sell them. (you should have plenty stacked up
if you have been following my advice before this)

3. Get to 84 and sell crafted goods. (these will be hot… for a while)

4. Farm fish and sell them. (sacrificing your own leveling needs in exchange
for a longer goal plan. you get to leveling fishing anyway!)

5. Sell gatherer enchants.

These will go for a *VERY* high premium. Remember, that these are players
who are going for server firsts; they are probably very hardcore and
have toons on the gold cap before Cataclysm’s release standing by.

Time to get some from their deep pockets!

You won’t necessarily have to be the absolute first person to do
these things on your server to make gold, but you definitely want
to be part of the first group to do so, especially during this
weekend. If you are unable to do any of these 5 tips, then maybe
you should consider flipping items posted by naive players who are
unaware of the value new cataclysm items will hold in the market
place for at least the next two weeks.

For the rest of you who are just looking to level, just follow this
guide. It will take you to 85 in no time, so that you can be the first
to raid on your server… or stand on the Auction House mailbox and do
nothing
